This monday was week three in the Writing Wrong workshop. It’s just thirteen students, a long table, Chuck, and his adorable dog Egg. It has been a very positive experience, one I feel fortunate to be a part of. Many of the other students are skilled writers. Reading their work can be humbling, but it is also exactly the challenge I need–the challenge and the outsider’s perspective.
*It was surreal at first, having a writer I have admired for fifteen years reading something I wrote and taking notes on it. Initially I was nervous and excited but the experience has normalized: Chuck is a nice guy, a calm man. A good teacher. At the end of the day he’s just like us only successful. Now we get to learn from him just as he learned from the great Tom Spanbauer.
